Love Letters - 0009
We were two bungling fools, too stupid for our own good. So full of hopes and dreams and expectations, children in adult bodies. I still do not regret our time together, nor do I wish I had lost my virginity to anyone else. Instead, I like to think of the two dumb kids that had no business being together; so enraptured by each other that our relationship did not even make sense to ourselves. Truly, how we lasted that long is a wonder. We were like those two little snails you kept separating in your research that continuously went to each other. That image still makes me smile. We were best friends; from high school, and through half my college career. I knew everything about you, the way you knew everything about me. I always loved what an intellectual you were, and it hurt me so very badly... so deeply, so indescribably, to know you did not respect my mind in the same way. It truly floored me, and was one of the most painful ways a man has ever hurt me in my entire lifetime. As I unpack my old traumas, it is probably why I avoided men remotely resembled you for the remainder of my romantic existence. I am glad we could reconcile, though I intend to maintain this comfortable distance. Warm regards,
"Your future ex-wife."
